Pour Moi’s Lingerie Trends Report 2026
Clothing trends are famous for being fleeting, but lingerie tends to live in our wardrobes far longer than the latest seasonal looks. No matter your shape, size, or style, the very first thing we do before getting dressed is put our underwear on, so why not pay it just as much attention?
Here at Pour Moi, we believe that our lingerie deserves just as much consideration as the clothes we put on top, and over the last few years, underwear has well and truly stepped into the fashion spotlight. From viral trends to bold celebrity statements we couldn’t get enough of, 2025 delivered an array of exciting and unconventional moments that took the world by storm.
To better understand how our underwear drawers are evolving, we took a deep dive into hundreds of data points across social media, our annual sales data, bespoke survey research, and Google search trends. The result? Our all-new Pour Moi Lingerie Report.
Our report uncovers the lingerie trends making the biggest impact, the styles and colours on the rise, and what’s set to take over in 2026. Although we might not buy underwear as often as our other clothes, it has the power to elevate our outfits and confidence like nothing else can.

The top 10 biggest lingerie trends for 2026
From comfort-first choices to bold and daring statement pieces, the biggest lingerie trends for 2026 prove that women can have it all:
1. Burgundy tights +315%
The colour burgundy has been dominating the fashion world since 2024, and our research shows it has no plans on stopping anytime soon, with searches for burgundy tights rising by +315% since last year.
This rich, elegant hue is clearly the colour to wear, but it's not the only bold fashion statement we’re seeking in our hosiery. Once considered a daring fashion choice, statement and coloured tights are becoming a go-to style choice. In fact, our research shows other statement tights are also on the rise:
- Argyle tights +171%
- Polka dot tights +50%
- Colour tights +48%
- Leopard print tights +26%
- Blue tights +23%
- Lace tights +22%
- Stockings and suspenders +22%
2. Sabrina Carpenter-inspired lingerie +233%
The pop princess has taken the world by storm, and it’s not just her catchy songs that pique people’s interest; her iconic lingerie looks do too. For those looking to copy Sabrina’s lingerie-esque stage wardrobe, corsets, babydolls, and stockings are the way to go.
From her standout tour corsets, which are adorned with crystals (over 150,000 to be precise), to the pastel pink briefs she performed in on SNL, the search data shows she’s set to continue leading the celebrity lingerie inspiration in 2026.
Minimiser bras are set to continue gaining online traction in 2026. This style of bra has been all over TikTok over the last year, with the hashtag ‘ #minimizerbra’ already having over 20.7k posts.
This kind of bra is specifically designed to reduce the prominence of your boobs and can help you appear up to a cup size smaller.
Emma Woodrow, one of our lingerie experts with over 10 years of fashion experience, explains when this might come in handy: "Minimiser bras are perfect for those who experience puckering at button closures on shirts, or even those who want to wear oversized tops without feeling bulky underneath.
“You can think of them a bit like shapewear, specifically for your bust!"
Seamless undies have been around for years, but it seems the long-standing trend is set to continue into 2026, particularly non-wired bras.
But this shift isn’t just about fashion - it speaks to wider lifestyle changes, where women are redefining how they want to feel in their underwear, prioritising softness, ease, and movement over more rigid structures.
Over the same period, searches for ‘comfortable bras’ have risen by +49%, ‘seamless bras’ by +22% and lounge bras by +20%, showing that many shoppers are putting comfort front of mind for their everyday pieces.
This trend is reflected in our own sales data, with sales for non-wired bras growing by +85% from 2024 to 2025.
5. Transparent and sheer underwear +76%
It seems we’re looking to spice things up with our underwear choices in 2026, with searches for sheer and transparent underwear up by +64%. In fact, earlier this year, Kim Kardashian brought back one of her 2010 signature poses - the ‘belfie’ (butt selfie) and posted a picture of her wearing a pair of completely sheer pants.
But it’s not only our underwear seeing a sheer revival - the sheerness is transcending over to other clothing too, with searches for ‘naked dress’ also up +22%. This risqué style dates back as early as the 1920s, with Marilyn Monroe donning perhaps the most famous naked dress of all time in 1962 when she sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to JFK (the same dress Kim K also wore to the Met Gala in 2022).
Sheerness is also blurring the line between lingerie and outerwear, with our next trend centred around those who now proudly sport their underwear as outerwear…
6. Lingerie as clothes +23%
Wearing underwear as outerwear is another lingerie trend set to continue growing in 2026.
This trend involves wearing underwear on show, such as bras displayed through an open shirt, chemises as dresses, visible stockings and suspenders, a sexy basque as a daring top, or even skipping trousers altogether and opting for some sheer tights and high-waisted knickers.
Wearing our most intimate layers on show is the ultimate display of fearless feminine energy and is quickly becoming a perennially popular fashion trend.
7. Whale tail thongs +57%
A Y2K fashion trend making a comeback is whale tail thongs. The “whale tail” describes the style of thong or g-string being pulled above the waistline of jeans, trousers, and skirts, creating a V-shape across the lower back, which resembles the shape of a whale’s tail.
The trend has been on the rise over the past few years, but it shows no signs of slowing down, with fashion designer Schiaparelli’s Fall 2025 show embracing them.
Wearing an exposed thong might feel daring, but if it makes you feel confident and sexy, then why not give it a try?
Cotton underwear is perhaps one of the most universally comfortable styles to wear. They’re breathable, gynaecologist-approved, and perfect for everyday wear.
Cotton underwear is no longer exclusively for your Bridget Jones moments; it’s sexy, and celebrities and regular women alike are redefining the ‘granny pant’ trope.
Comfort-first fashion is making it clear that cotton full brief knickers are officially cool.
While we all love rocking an Adam Sandler-esque nightwear get-up of an old baggy tee and shorts now and again, our research shows that consumers are shifting to more glamorous bed attire.
These soft, fluid, and feminine items are winning the hearts of consumers, with searches for chemises up +22%. With both long and short options, and an array of fabrics to choose from, there’s a chemise to suit every bedtime - or bedroom - mood.
Selena Gomez also recently showed off a pink chemise on her Instagram. As the most-followed woman on the platform, her impact is sure to keep catapulting this trend into 2026.
While this can largely tie back to the increased demand for comfort-first underwear, the surge of underwear as outerwear is perhaps the more likely cause for the rise in searches for ladies’ bloomer shorts.
Their roots can be traced back to vintage lingerie and undergarments - although today’s versions are definitely more versatile, and can be styled in a myriad of ways. Similar to the boxer brief trend (also up +22%), bloomer shorts can be a more comfortable, less exposing alternative to the lingerie-on-display look.
Not to mention total comfort levels, especially on hot summer days, having you looking and feeling cool.
What are the most popular lingerie styles?
While it might seem like there are a myriad of different styles of women’s underwear to choose from, our survey found that we do have some overarching favourite styles of knickers.
The most popular style of knickers women in the UK have in their underwear drawers is the full brief, with over half the female population (52%) owning a pair. Following the full brief style are thongs and g-strings (37%), and then high-waist pants (33%).
When it comes to different bras, the most popular style in the UK is the t-shirt bra, with 45% of women owning at least one. Following this are underwired bras (44%), sports bras (42%), full cup bras (39%), and non-wired bras (36%).
These findings suggest that women are continually prioritising practicality, everyday wearability, and support.
What are the most popular lingerie colours?
Whether it's loungewear or party dresses, colour preferences always influence how we dress ourselves - but what about what we wear underneath?
Even if you’re not conscious of it, having a go-to lingerie colour, particularly with your everyday underwear, is just as common as having a favourite style. Colour holds the power to bring out our best features, make us feel sexy, and even lift our moods.
Our internal data shows that blacks, whites, and nudes are the most popular lingerie colours by far - and in 2025, our customers have bought three times as many of these colours as any other colours combined.
While there’s no denying these colours are the most versatile everyday staples, there are a couple of other colours rising in popularity.
Our data shows that print lingerie is set to have a moment in 2026, with a +235% rise in popularity since last year. Purples are set to see the next biggest increase, up +96% over the same time period.
Other colours increasing include nudes (+17%), yellows (+16%), and greens (+15%).
Are there any seasonal lingerie colour spikes?
Our survey found that one in six (15%) women will buy new lingerie to suit the changing seasons, and much like we favour certain colours of clothes depending on the time of year, our data shows the same trend can be found with how we switch up our lingerie.
Lighter colours, such as nudes, whites, and ivories, tend to spike during the summer months, whereas darker colours, like black, purple, and brown, peak during the colder and winter months.
You might think red lingerie sells best around Valentine’s Day - it is the unanimous colour of love, after all. However, our data shows otherwise.
Red lingerie sales soar at Christmas time, when online searches are 73% higher than average and 12% above February’s levels, too!
Interestingly, one in four (24%) women say they buy Christmas lingerie, and over two-fifths (42%) say they think Christmas-themed lingerie could be fun in the bedroom. Clearly, the break from everyday routines at the festivities makes us feel particularly sexy.
How much lingerie did women buy in 2025?
On average, women in the UK buy four bras and eight pairs of pants every year.
Interestingly, our survey data shows that the amount of underwear women buy every year decreases with age, with younger women buying around twice as much as their older peers (six new bras for 18-24-year-olds and half as many new bras for those 65+).
Although we buy an average of four new bras and eight new pairs of pants every year, the average woman owns around twice as many. Our survey data shows that the average woman in the UK has 11 bras.
Love trying out new bras? You’re not alone. One in 10 (10%) women own more than 20, and one in 20 (5%) have over 30 - talk about lingerie lovers!
Similarly, the average woman has around 20 pairs of pants in their underwear drawer, with around one in six (14%) women having over 30 pairs, and one in 12 (8%) having over 40 pairs.
We can reveal that women in Northern Ireland are the biggest lingerie lovers in the UK, with their drawers comprising approximately 14 bras and 23 pairs of pants.
How much of our lingerie are we actually wearing?
While women in the UK own quite a significant amount of lingerie, they only wear around 50% of it consistently - the average woman only wears around six of her 11 bras and around 10 of her 20 pairs of pants.
So, how much underwear should you have?
Emma Woodrow recommends: “As a general rule of thumb, I recommend only keeping enough everyday underwear that you’ll comfortably use in one laundry cycle, plus a few buffers. This way, your everyday underwear drawer stays practical, clutter-free, and easy to manage.”
For someone doing a weekly wash, this would mean:
- Pants - around nine to 10 pairs
- Socks - one for each day of the week, plus a few spares for things like sports
- Everyday Bras - a rotation of three to five in neutral or tonal colours (washing every two to three wears)
Of course, your underwear drawer doesn’t have to just be everyday essentials. It’s always worth having a few special pieces too - whether that’s lingerie that makes you feel sexy, a matching set that gives you extra confidence, or shapewear for when you want a smooth silhouette under an outfit.
What are the reasons women buy new underwear?
According to our survey, the most popular reason women buy new lingerie is to go on holiday, with 58% saying they purchase new underwear before jetting off. We often refresh our wardrobes for trips abroad, so it’s nice to see that our underwear is also getting the holiday treatment!
The second most popular reason for buying new underwear is to accommodate new body changes (42%), followed by those who buy new undies for dates (30%), and those who refresh their underwear ahead of Valentine’s Day (30%).
Interestingly, nearly one in 10 (9%) women buy new underwear for starting a new job - a subtle way to mark a new beginning.
What’s the average boob size in the UK?
Our sales show that the most popular bra size in 2025 was a 36DD. Following this, 34DD is the second most popular, and then 36D.
Interestingly, D and DD cup sizes make up six out of the top ten most popular bra sizes. After D-cups, E-cups are the second most popular, with 34E and 36E both ranking in the top 10.

An increased interest in bra fittings
Over the past year, our research reveals an astounding 83% rise in the number of people searching for professional bra fittings.
Interestingly, we’ve also seen a 23% increase in the number of people searching for “how to measure bra size” suggesting that people are still looking to figure out the correct bra size for their boobs from the comfort of their own homes.
Finding the perfect bra size can be challenging, but our dedicated fitting room can help you discover your ideal size, shape, and style with ease. Here you’ll find our bra sizing guides, fit calculator, conversion charts, and details on where you can find our team in-store for a face-to-face fitting.
Emma Woodrow adds: “That said, your bra size may differ depending on the style you choose. Bra sister sizes are groups of bra sizes that hold the same volume in the cup, but change around the back.
“For example, if you go up a band size, come down a cup size. Likewise, if you go down a band size, come up a cup size. Let’s take the most popular bra size of a 36DD; the sister sizes would be a 34E or a 38D.”

What lingerie care mistakes are people making?
Properly wearing and caring for our underwear is essential for maintaining its quality, softness, and lifetime.
It’s important that you know how to correctly wash your items - particularly those with delicate fabrics like lace and embroidery - and also know the correct fitting adjustments for your lingerie so you don’t strain the materials (or your body!).
Our survey found that half of UK women (48%) believe that you should always wear a new bra on the tightest hook first, but this is a common misbelief. When you first get a new bra, it should always fit snugly on the loosest hook to account for natural stretch and wear over time.
This means that as the bra ages, you can move it to the tighter hook for a better fit. If you wear your new bra on the tightest hook straight away, you’ll likely have to replace it a lot sooner than if you started on the loosest hook.
For more information on how to care for and properly wash your underwear, take a look at our dedicated lingerie care guide, where we detail how to wash, dry, and store your items to maximise their lifespan.
How are women feeling in their underwear?
When it comes to feeling confident in our underwear, the majority of us (64%) say we feel most attractive when wearing a matching lingerie set.
Yet, more than half (51%) of us still prefer to have the lights off during intimacy with our partners, suggesting that even when we feel good in lingerie, many of us aren’t fully confident in showing it off.
Interestingly, this hesitation tends to fade with age. In fact, 44% of women say they grow more confident in their bodies each year as they age.
